Christmas 2014 booking information and our set menus

Please note the information below as our past experiences have shown us that it is better that you are fully aware of all the following before you book:

Our Christmas set menus are available daily from Friday 28th November – Saturday 27th December 2014 from 11.45am until late for groups of 6 or more diners. We shall be closed on Christmas Day and then open from 5pm on Boxing Day.

Our full A La Carte Menu is also available for parties of less than 6 diners.  

Please note that for all bookings made for before 7pm we strictly require our tables back just before two and a half hours after the booking time. May we assure you that this provides ample time for a 3-course meal and then a round of coffee/ further drinks and it also allows us to plan our day during extremely hectic periods and accommodate our later booking demands. If this is not something that you feel you wish to nor shall able to comply with then please book elsewhere at a less busy / less well-prepared restaurant. Further, may we ask that you please do not attend at our restaurant earlier than the booking time as it is extremely likely that we shall have absolutely no space for you to wait in apart from in our front doorway as your table is virtually guaranteed to be unavailable until your booking time and all other space in our dining areas shall be filled with other diners. Unfortunately (for us too), we do not have a separate bar area for you to drink and wait at. May we thank you in advance for observing these timing necessities.   

A deposit of £10 per diner requires to be paid to confirm all Christmas period bookings within two weeks of making the booking with us. Payment of deposit can be made by telephone card payment or cash direct at the restaurant. If the deposit is not paid then the booking is not a confirmed one and the booking can and will be deleted from our table plan and replaced with another. The deposit of £10 per diner who attends will be deducted from the final bill when you come and dine with us. Deposit payment for diners who do not attend will not be deducted from the final bill nor refunded due to the severe inconvenience and expense this causes to our restaurant in wasted table space and/or booking refusals to other guests which it later turns out we would have been able to accommodate. If your group has more diners than you had anticipated when booking then we don’t mind squeezing-in extra chairs into the same table space if you don’t (laws of physics permitting), however, the more notice you give us of such then the more likely we shall be able to amend our table plan to create some extra table space for you and give you all a more comfortable experience.  

Please note that it is our practice to apply a 10% discretionary service charge to the final bill of all parties of 6 or more diners. If you do not wish for this to occur then please simply let us know (either when you book or when you request your bill) and we will not apply such. You do not require to pay the 10% discretionary service charge. It is discretionary.

(Freshly-made seasonal mixed vegetable soup served with our daily-made Italian bread)

BRUSCHETTA AL POMODORO (V)

(Oven-baked freshly-made Italian garlic bread (hot) and topped with fresh chopped salad tomatoes (cold) dressed in garlic, extra virgin olive oil and fresh basil)

MOZZARELLA FRITTA (V)

(Golden-fried breaded mozzarella fingers served with a side dip of sweet blended tomato and chilli sauce and small mixed salad garnish)

INSALATA CON FUNGHI (V)

(Sliced mushrooms sautéed in extra virgin olive oil and crushed garlic (hot) served on a bed of mixed leaf lettuce, chopped tomatoes and red onion. Served with a side portion of our daily-made Italian bread)

MELONE & GAMBERETTI 

(Freshwater baby prawns dressed in marie rose sauce and served with freshly sliced honeydew melon)

PATÉ DELLA CASA

(Smooth freshly-made chicken liver pate (cooked through) served with oatcakes, hard melba toast shards, red berry coulis and small mixed salad garnish)

RISOTTO VEGETERIANO (V)

(Traditional Italian Arborio rice dish with sautéed seasonal vegetables, saffron and a touch of fresh cream)

CANNELLONI DI SPINACI E RICOTTA (V)

(Oven-baked fresh pasta cylinders densely stuffed with ricotta cheese and fresh spinach served in an abundance of béchamel and Napoli sauce)

SEABASS PROVENCALE

(Filleted North-Atlantic seabass poached in an abundance of blended tomato, oregano and fresh cream sauce and served with sticky Arborio rice)

LASAGNE AL FORNO
(Oven-baked Scotch beef mince and béchamel lasagne made to a traditional recipe topped with generous ladles of Bolognese and Napoli sauce) 
SPAGHETTI BOLOGNESE

(Pasta served with our freshly-prepared “Ragu” of Scotch beef and mixed vegetable mince)

PIZZA OF YOUR CHOICE

(Stone-baked thin base 10” Roman-style pizza made with our own freshly prepared dough. Choose up to any 3 fresh toppings)

POLLO ALLA CREMA

(Pan-seared chicken breast served with sliced mushrooms sautéed in a Frascati© white wine, fresh cream and touch of garlic sauce. Served with penne pasta in the same sauce)

TACCHINO NATALIZIO

(Traditional roast turkey and trimmings served with our own pork, breadcrumbs and sage stuffing and cranberry jam. Served with mixed seasonal vegetables and potatoes)

FILETTO AL PEPE VERDE (£5.50 SUPPLEMENT)

(Prime grilled 8oz Scottish fillet steak finished in and served in our house speciality sauce of Vecchia Romagna© brandy, fresh cream and green peppercorns. Also available plain grilled if requested at time of order. Served with mixed seasonal vegetables and potatoes. Please note our cooking definitions in advance: - rare = red and bloody interior; medium = pink and succulent juicy interior; well-done = grey-brown & dry/chewy/tough interior (inevitable as you will have requested us to cook the meat’s natural juices out however we shall tenderise/flatten the fillet before cooking it well done to try and reduce the cooking time and attempt to keep it as tender as possible) and heavily charred on the outside)
